Very nice place to have a good time. Good music. Minus - they only accept cash :(
I was at Gretchen a couple of nights ago for the Botticelli Baby (+ SCHRAMM) concert. I had an amazing night. They have a station for your jackets and backpacks for 1,50€-2,50€. The staff was nice. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and the prices are okay. They have seats placed around the walls. The atmosphere was great and if someone danced into you they usually noticed and apologized or moved away a bit, very respectful audience. The music and bass wasn't too loud or too much which is great.
For nonbinary/trans* folks:
I don't know if there are gender neutral bathrooms but it said that there's a bathroom for disabled people (you have to ask for the key), so maybe that would the gender neutral option.
In summary: I can totally recommend this club and I'd probably come back :)
The place is great, and feels safe for everyone. The act was good, but the live sound was too loud and messy to really be able to listen in details. Even though I absolutely love huge bass sounds, it was too much bass for my taste.
Entrance is friendly but only accept cash. The concert was 30€ that night and I had to try several ATM around (250m) to find one working. Show planed for 20.30 actually started at 21.10 so you could be a bit late.
my first time yesterday I went for a kadebostany concert here, the big stage was kinda full but still I could dance freely. I'm not a sound engineer but if you find a good spot to catch music live acts can be very good here.
Depends on the act ofc but I highly recommend the place.
and also I really liked the people working here, smiling, and very helpful. I lost a key and male bouncer took and the woman working at the cloakroom took their time and acted with compassion. This experience gave me a safe feeling that I'll be in good care of. Thank you!
The staff was a bit weird at the entrance, I didn't understand why I had to throw away my water bottle. Besides that, nice venue - but I would drop the big glitter ball (it's cheesy).
We were in Gretchen on Saturday eve and had a nice evening. However the place is far from having a nice atmosphere without being really bad though. Music wasnt too great, but that's depending on the event of the evening so... The entry fee of 18€ was way too high for what you get, but it's Berlin so you have to be prepared for high prices
The person at the tickets was soooo mean. I had tickets for a concert in February that got cancelled and then rescheduled in September. When I went online to download the tickets, the link was broken, so i couldn't get them anymore. As i was still waiting for my friend, i went in to clarify the situation with staff. All good until i said that i still need to wait for someone and i was rudely told to "not cause problems anymore" and that it's my fault that i didn't download the tickets before. Literally sorry for what...? It was not even busy or packed with people, i just had a simple question and i was not even let to explain the situation.
I went for an Ivy Lab set. Basically, only one of the DJs showed up and decided to play music completely unrelated to what was expected. Feels like i was lied to…. Wouldn’t classify the music as drum and bass at all.
Also the acoustics of the room were not optimal. Will not come back.
Staff were friendly though.
